Martin to become all-time winningest Women’s Volleyball coach in U.S.

Peggy Martin, PhD, Spring Hill College Women’s Volleyball Head Coach, is on track to become the country’s winningest women's four-year collegiate volleyball coach in any division. With only eight more wins, Martin will pass Larry Bock (retired) of Navy with 1,349 career wins.

It is all about the TEAM.” She continued, saying, “This type of record is the result of being blessed to get to do what you love for a long time with lots of very good people to do it with!”

Before The Hill, as coach at the University of Central Missouri, she achieved a record as the winningest women's volleyball coach in the history of NCAA Division II with 33 consecutive winning seasons and a 1,064-281-8 record. Martin is one of only two collegiate volleyball coaches to reach 1,300 wins at any level of competition.

Joseph Lee II, PhD says he remembers being introduced to Coach Martin when he first arrived at Spring Hill. “Her legacy on The Hill and in the volleyball and athletics community is legendary. I was so impressed by her humility at her accomplishments and how everyone she works with – students, staff, parents and more – genuinely admire her.”

"Winning is a by-product of doing the little things the right way, being disciplined, great effort, teamwork and servant leadership,” said Joe Niland, Spring Hill’s Athletic Director. “Peggy has taught these and many other life lessons to young women for many years and this accomplishment is the outcome of those lessons. We at Spring Hill are very proud of this great milestone and we are very blessed to have Coach Martin to lead our Volleyball program."
